Gemma Hollas
I joined The Brooksbank Choir in Year 10 and found my love of acting, music and dance. I especially enjoyed the cross curricular elements and embraced gymnastics and sport. My new skills enabled me to choreograph several school shows.
After leaving Brooksbank, I completed an Acting Degree and went on to study for my PGCE with the intention of becoming a Drama Teacher.
After three years of high school teaching I wanted to develop my expertise in the Special Needs sector. I am now a support worker for adults with complex needs and Autism, which enables me to combine my love of drama and social care work. I lead drama and music sessions where adults can express their feelings, senses and emotions.
Gemma’s message is
“try different subjects and find a path you feel comfortable with”
“I thought I was destined for teaching, but I found a new pathway I absolutely love.
School subjects can lead you to many careers; try a few and see where your interest and passion lies.”
