A Heartwarming Visit: Brooksbank’s Day at the Donkey Rescue Centre

Our Bridge students embarked on a unique and memorable field trip to a local donkey rescue centre for the opportunity to learn, bond and experience the therapeutic benefits of spending time with these gentle animals.

Discovering the Donkey Rescue Centre

The Donkey Rescue Centre we visited is a sanctuary dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of neglected and abandoned donkeys. The centre’s mission is to provide a safe and loving environment where these animals can recover and thrive. Our students were given a warm welcome by the centre’s staff, who shared stories about the donkeys' backgrounds and the essential work being done to protect them.

The Therapeutic Power of Animals

Animal therapy, also known as animal-assisted therapy, has been widely recognizsd for its numerous benefits, especially for young people. Interacting with animals can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also improve social skills, increase self-esteem, and provide comfort and companionship.

During our visit, students had the chance to engage in various activities with the donkeys, such as feeding, grooming, and walking them. These interactions provided a hands-on experience that highlighted the donkeys' gentle and patient nature.

The visit taught our students about empathy, responsibility, and animal welfare.
